The leaves of this lettuce are noticed to be light green with a slightly yellow-green base accompanied by black seeds. It is medium sized spanning about 7 inches in width with tender and loose heads. It is famous for being pickled in brine during the 17th and 18th centuries. They are best grown in spring. Open pollinated seeds.
