Palla Rosa Heirloom Certified- Radicchio Seed
85 days. 100 seeds. Palla Rosa Radicchio is an early producer of deep red heads with white veins. Radicchio is considered one of the chicories, which are closely related to lettuce, but are heartier and look similar to cabbage. Both the leaves can be harvested individually or the whole head once it's finished. Radicchio has a slightly bitter edge in taste, and adds a wonderful zest and color to salads. It is also delicious when cooked -- try slicing and brushing with olive oil, then throwing it on the grill -- and it pairs well with bleu cheese, olives, apples and walnuts. Radicchio is a cool-season crop. Hot weather increases bitterness, and radicchio can withstand some frost, so it is best planted in late summer for fall and winter use. Open pollinated seeds.
